Research at a stand still

So this week has not been very productive on the side of research for the research paper. I've been fighting a head cold/sinus infection so it's been tough to concentrate on more than a few things at a time. I am however making progress with my argument paper. I spent time this weekend focusing on that.

I will however, make sure to research the Rodney King beating this week. This morning I happened to skim along my book collection and found that one of my books from a previous semester touches on police brutality. Tonight I will dive into that to see if there is any relevant and useful information that I can use for the paper.

Journal Entry 3/17/10

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!

Today I am going to try to research the Rodney King beating case. Since this is a well-known case involving police brutality, I think it is important to include information about this case in my research paper.

Narrowed research topic

After some additional research on police misconduct and corruption, I am considering a more narrow aspect involving excessive police brutality. I think there have been so many cases presented by the media that would be very interesting to research. I'd really like to find out if and how the officers were punished and to what extent.

Research topic

So after doing further research, I have narrowed down my topic/thesis for the research paper: Police misconduct creates mistrust in the criminal justice system by society.

Research topic idea

So I've come up with another possible topic for my research paper. It suddenly dawned on me that I would really enjoy writing this paper about a topic I am truly fascinated with...law. Since my major is Criminal Justice, why not write a paper on police corruption. It's very interesting to me and I think it would really make this assignment enjoyable. I will be paying a visit to the library sometime this week to see what sources are available and maybe find a specific aspect of police corruption to focus on.
